Commencement Ceremony Absence

Ohio State is one of the few institutions where students receive their official individual diplomas during the Commencement ceremony. If you do not plan to attend Commencement, you will need to complete a Commencement Ceremony Absence form in order to choose how you would like to receive your diploma.

Participation in the Commencement ceremony each semester is limited only to students who have applied to graduate, and who are enrolled in final degree requirements, for that semester. Students may not participate in Commencement ceremonies during any other terms. For example, students who are completing degree requirements during the Summer Term, including May Session, may only participate in the Summer Commencement.

The Spring 2024 Commencement ceremony will be held Sunday, May 5, 2024. If you will not be attending the ceremony, please complete the absence form below.
